Diane Seuss is the author of three books of poetry: Four-Legged Girl (Graywolf Press, 2015); Wolf Lake, White Gown Blown Open (University of Massachusetts Press, 2010), recipient of the Juniper Prize for Poetry; and It Blows You Hollow (New Issues Press, 1998). She served as the MacLean Distinguished Visiting Professor in the English department at Colorado College in 2012 and is currently writer-in-residence at Kalamazoo College, where she has been on the faculty since 1988.

Diane was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize For Poetry in 2016.

Two Sylvias Press 2017 Full-Length Poetry Prize GUIDELINES
   
Please read carefully and follow the guid
elines as listed below:
  • Electronic submissions only (by way of submissions@twosylviaspress.com - you will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours. If you do not receive the confirmation, please resubmit. Don't forget to check your SPAM folder).
  • Simultaneous submissions accepted. Please notify Two Sylvias Press immediately if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere.
  • Please submit an original, unpublished full-length manuscript of poetry (no translations or previously self-published books). Individual poems may have been previously published in journals, magazines, anthologies, and chapbooks, but the collection as a whole must be unpublished.
  • We ask that students and close associates of the judge not submit their manuscripts. 
  • 60-90 pages of poetry (not including title page, table of contents, end notes).
  • You may submit more than one manuscript for consideration. Submit additional manuscript(s) in a separate email(s) and include submission fee(s).
  • In the body of email, include short bio, manuscript title, page length, author's name, address, email, and acknowledgements of previous published poems, if any.
  • Attach your manuscript as an MS Word doc and email to:  submissions@twosylviaspress.com
  • Your name should not appear anywhere in or on the manuscript.
  • Email subject line should include your last name, manuscript title, and the year, 2017.

  • Reading Fee: $28.00  OR  $40.00 (which will include a copy of the prize-winning book mailed to you).
  • Payment method: Paypal (PayPal buttons below) or check payable to Two Sylvias Press (Two Sylvias Press, PO Box 1524, Kingston, WA 98346). Please include manuscript title on check.
  • Entry Dates: April 1, 2017 – June 30, 2017 (Midnight Hawaiian Island time).
 
  • Winner receives $1000, 20 author copies of print book, and a vintage inkwell.
  • The winning book will be published in both print format and eBook. 
  • Books published by Two Sylvias Press are perfect-bound with a high-quality matte finish (6 x 9 or 5 x 8). Please click here to visit our products page to view some of our covers. 
  • Winner will be announced by December, 2017. (Please do not email us for results or the status of your entry prior to Dec. 2017)
  • All manuscript entries will be considered for publication. 
  • Also note, we do not disqualify manuscripts for errors or mistakes. We err on the side of the poet and if we have any questions about your manuscript (i.e. the formatting is displaying incorrectly) or if you're missing something we need, we'll contact you.
