Two Sylvias Press Online Poetry Retreat Scholarship Opportunity

A generous anonymous donor has just come forward and has offered to pay the Poetry Retreat fee for a poet who would like to participate in the retreat but cannot afford it.

Two Sylvias will match this donor’s offer by offering two additional “scholarships” for the Online Poetry Retreat (October Session: Oct 9th to Nov. 5th). Our anonymous donor participated in the retreat and would love to offer someone else the experience, which she found so valuable.

In order to apply for these “free” spaces, please let us know what this retreat would mean to you as a poet and why you feel prompted to make a commitment to write poems for a month. Please limit your response to a single paragraph. You can email your responses (in the body of the email) to: twosylviaspress@gmail.com Please write “Retreat Scholarship” and your last name in your email subject title. Deadline to apply: August 31st.

What happens during a Two Sylvias Online Poetry Retreat?

Our Online Poetry Retreat offers you the opportunity to write new poems and have them critiqued by the editors of Two Sylvias Press (Kelli Russell Agodon and Annette Spaulding-Convy). We send you poetry prompts, example poems, creativity suggestions, and reflection questions to inspire your writing—ALL VIA EMAIL. Enjoy this retreat according to your own schedule. And, you will also receive a poetry retreat journal and a Two Sylvias poetry publication (you choose from a list of our books). For more information on our Online Retreat, please visit: http://www.twosylviaspress.com/online-poetry-retreat.html

Here is one of the testimonials from the retreat:

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and encouraging comments on my poems! I so appreciate your time and insight. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I registered for the retreat, not having participated in anything like this before. I was hoping it would nudge me out of a writing lull and push me in new directions, and it absolutely delivered. The prompts introduced me to new and excellent poems, pushed me out of my comfort zone (sometimes way out!), and opened many new pathways for me to explore. I ended the retreat with several promising poems and several prompts I am still working on. The little messages of encouragement always seemed to arrive at just the right time, and the deadline to submit two poems for feedback gave me extra motivation. I would love to participate in future retreats!
~ Lindsay R.
