Oliver de la Paz is the Poet Laureate of Worcester, MA for 2023-2025. He is the author and editor of seven books: Names Above Houses, Furious Lullaby, Requiem for the Orchard, Post Subject: A Fable, and The Boy in the Labyrinth, a finalist for the Massachusetts Book Award in Poetry. His newest work, The Diaspora Sonnets, is published by Liveright Press (2023). With Stacey Lynn Brown he co-edited A Face to Meet the Faces: An Anthology of Contemporary Persona Poetry. Oliver serves as the co-chair of the Kundiman advisory board. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Poetry, American Poetry Review, and elsewhere. He has received grants from the NEA, NYFA, the Artist’s Trust, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and has been awarded multiple Pushcart Prizes. He teaches at the College of the Holy Cross and in the Low-Residency MFA Program at PLU.

Two Sylvias Press 2024 Chapbook Prize GUIDELINES

- Electronic submissions only (by way of twosylviaschapbookprize@gmail.com - you will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. If you do not receive the confirmation, please resubmit. Don't forget to check your SPAM folder).
- Simultaneous submissions accepted. Please notify Two Sylvias Press immediately if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere.
- Individual poems may be previously published.
- 17-24 pages of poetry (not including title page, table of contents, end notes).
- You may submit more than one manuscript for consideration. Submit additional manuscript(s) in a separate email(s) and include submission fee(s).
- In the body of email, include short bio, manuscript title, page length, author's name, address, email, and acknowledgements of previous published poems, if any.
- Attach your manuscript as an MS Word doc and email to: twosylviaschapbookprize@gmail.com
- Your name should not appear anywhere in or on the manuscript.
- Email subject line should include your last name, chapbook title, and the year, 2024.
- Reading Fee: $18.
- Payment method: Paypal (PayPal buttons below) or check payable to Two Sylvias Press (Two Sylvias Press, PO Box 1524, Kingston, WA 98346). Please include chapbook title on check.
- Entry Dates: February 1, 2024 – May 31, 2024 (Midnight Hawaiian Island time).
- Winner receives $500, 20 author copies of print chapbook, and a 1930's depression glass trophy,
- The winning chapbook will be published in print format.
- Chapbooks published by Two Sylvias Press are perfect-bound with a high-quality matte finish (6 x 9). Please see the winning chapbooks from: 2022 (Majda Gama), 2021 (Saul Hernandez), 2020 (Meg Griffitts), 2019 (Christopher Salerno), 2018 (Stella Wong), 2017 (Hiwot Adilow), 2016 (Lena Khalaf Tuffaha), 2015 (Jasmine An), and 2014 (Cecilia Woloch).
- Winner will be announced by September, 2024
- All chapbook entries will be considered for publication.
- Also note, we do not disqualify manuscripts for errors or mistakes. We err on the side of the poet and if we have any questions about your manuscript (i.e. the formatting comes through incorrectly) or if you're missing something we need, we'll contact you.
